What is Avascular Necrosis?
- Avascular necrosis, also called osteonecrosis, is a condition in which bone death occurs because of inadequate blood supply to it.
- Lack of blood flow may occur secondary to many different conditions.
Symptoms of Avascular Necrosis
- The symptoms may appear suddenly
- In other situations, you may experience pain and stiffness gradually over a period of time.
- Typically, avascular necrosis causes pain and restricted range of motion in the affected joint.
Diagnosis of Avascular Necrosis
Dr. Jennings and his team will evaluate your condition based on the following
- Your medical history
- A physical examination of the hip and thigh region
- X-rays
- And other diagnostic test as needed (i.e. MRI, CT scan)
