- The labrum helps deepen the socket and provide stability to the hip
- A labral tear may occur from trauma, repetitive use or sometimes for unknown reasons
- Labral tears can occur separately or can be seen together with hip dysplasia and/or hip arthritis
Symptoms of Hip Labral Tears
- Pain in the groin
- Pain may also be in the buttocks or outside (lateral) aspect of the hip
- Catching, locking or instability of the hip joint
Diagnosis of Hip Labral Tears
Dr. Jennings and his team will evaluate your condition based on the following
- Your medical history
- A physical examination of the hip and thigh region
- X-rays
- And other diagnostic test as needed (i.e. MRI or ultrasound)
